The mother of Boston Marathon bombing suspect, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, said she spoke with her son briefly for the first time since he was locked up for his alleged role in the explosion that killed three and injured 260.
"I couldn’t stop myself from crying,” Zubeidat Tsarnaeva told Bloomberg from Makhachkala, Russia. “He said: ‘I am absolutely fine, my wounds are healing. Everything is in God’s hands. Be patient. Everything will be fine.’”
The conversation lasted about six minutes, Tsarnaeva said.
In previous interviews with the press, Tsarnaeva has insisted that Dzhokhar and his brother Tamerlan are the victims of a conspiracy. She denies her sons had anything to do with last month's attack and said she believes the FBI captured Tamerlan Tsarnaev alive and murdered him.
Law enforcement officials have said Tamerlan died April 19 in Watertown, Mass., after a midnight shootout with authorities.
Last month, ABC News reported that Tsarnaeva told reporters her sons are only guilty of being Muslim.
