State of the Union 2014 word cloud: America
Tuesday’s State of the Union address might be almost 7,000 words long, but the most-invoked in the president’s speech were America — or variations of that.
“America,” American” and “Americans” were the top words during President Barack Obama’s sixth State of the Union, according to a word cloud created by Wordle using the prepared remarks for the president’s speech and creating an image of the most commonly repeated words in the text. Touching upon various issues facing both the nation and the people, the high use of America reflects speeches in past years.

Another word that was commonly used the prepared remarks was “Cory;” the name of Sergeant First Class Cory Remsburg, an Army Ranger who a few months after he met Obama in 2009, was nearly killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan. The president shared Remsburg story at the end of his speech.Other words the president repeated were people, jobs, help, work and Congress as the economy and tackling unemployment — including lawmakers — remain a major aspect of Obama’s agenda. These words as well have had a strong presence in past addresses delivered by Obama.
“For months, he lay in a coma. The next time I met him, in the hospital, he couldn’t speak; he could barely move. Over the years, he’s endured dozens of surgeries and procedures, and hours of grueling rehab every day,” Obama said.
The president said Remsburg endured dozens of surgeries and hours of rehabilitation, adding “he’s working toward the day when he can serve his country again.”
On Tuesday, Remsburg sat in attendance next to first lady Michelle Obama in the House gallery as the president praised the sacrifice of the nation’s servicemen and women
